Basic spice

Chilli

dried

Cayenne chilli peppers are characterized by an intense aroma and a spicy taste.

weight: 450 g

Do you know, that…

The origin of the spice's name is rather ambiguous. Chilli was named by the conquistadors who mistakenly believed that the fiery spice came from Chile. The name Cayenne comes from the French penal colony, where this pepper was grown in rather large quantities. We know that traders also called chillies Turkish or Guinea pepper. However, the question of naming seems secondary when you taste the incredible flavour and power of this spice.

How to use

It is used to season bean and meat dishes as well as soups, fish and seafood dishes. It perfectly complements white sauces, giving them a brighter colour.
