Do you know, that…

The struggle for the monopoly of this once valuable spice went on for centuries. The Venetians, the Portuguese, the Dutch, and the English… all wanted to control the cultivation of cinnamon. It was only in the 17th century that it began to be grown and sold on an industrial scale. Today, in addition to Sri Lanka, cinnamon is grown in India, Brazil and Indonesia, among others. Interestingly, cinnamon is the only spice in the world that is obtained from the bark of a plant that is dried after pretreatment and sold either as a powder or in pieces in the form of cinnamon sticks. Thanks to its intense, yet pleasant aroma, cinnamon is also used to make perfumes and other scent mixtures.

How to use

Cinnamon is an inseparable ingredient of many desserts, especially apple cakes. Some people can't even imagine preparing venison without adding cinnamon. Excellent for flavouring stock juices and soups with a Far Eastern flavour.
