weight: 20 gDo you know, that…
The origin of the spice's name is rather ambiguous. Chili was named by the conquistadors who mistakenly believed that the fiery spice came from Chile. The name Cayenne comes from the French penal colony, where this pepper was grown in rather large quantities. We know that traders also called chillies Turkish or Guinea pepper. However, the question of naming seems secondary when you taste the incredible flavour and power of this spice.
How to use
Chilli cayenne is a very hot spice, so use it with caution and moderation. It is advisable to dose gradually so as not to overdo it. Chilli cayenne is perfect for white sauces because it gives them an appetizing colour. Combined with other spices, chilli cayenne is perfect for marinating meats and enhancing the flavour of seafood. In order to bring out the flavour of the food, it is worth heating the chilli in oil or butter before mixing it with the food.
